Strauss' "Metamorphosen" in Krakow

Strauss'

Metamorphosen” (for 23 solo strings) was composed by Richard Strauss in 1945 on the verge of “the most terrible period of human history” (as Strauss wrote in his diary).  This one of the most metaphysical and profound compositions of Strauss will resound in Krakow on 4th November 2015 during the “Days of John Paul II”. The concert programme successfully combines this piece with “Totus Tuus” and “Kyrie” by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki  (who was a great admirer of “Metamorphosen”) and also with “Agnus Dei” and “Chaconne” by Krzysztof Penderecki. This exquisite concert will be performed by the Chamber Orchestra of the Music Academy Krakow and Choir of the Music Academy under the baton of Paweł Przytocki. The venue of this event will be the Church of St. Francis in Krakow.
